The Porsche 911 GT1 was born from one of the most uncompromising ideas in Porsche history: rather than transform a road-going 911 into a race car, Porsche created a machine specifically for competition and then built a road-legal version to satisfy homologation requirements.
 
Introduced in 1996, the GT1 carried the visual DNA of the 911, but underneath, it was something entirely different - a purpose-built racing machine engineered for endurance, speed and survival at the highest level of motorsport.
 
Its defining moment came in 1998, when the Porsche 911 GT1-98 achieved a legendary 1–2 overall finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, delivering Porsche its 16th overall victory at the race.
 
That victory transformed the GT1 from an extraordinary racing machine into a permanent chapter of Porsche history.
 
Today, the 911 GT1 remains one of the rarest and most fascinating creations ever to carry the Porsche name - a car born from racing, shaped by engineering, and remembered for the moment it conquered Le Mans.
